Geek-O-Rama: One Way or Another

'Star Wars: The Last Jedi' Behind-the-Scenes Video Shows New Creatures and Old Friends

There’s still no full-length trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi, but fans should nevertheless be pleased with Lucasfilm‘s new offering: a behind-the-scenes video that showcases lots of new creatures, offers a good look at some new and familiar characters, and even has Admiral Akbar marking the end of the shoot by announcing, “It’s a wrap!” (Watch it above.)

Introduced at Disney‘s D23 Expo on Saturday by director Rian Johnson, who took the stage with cast members Mark Hamill, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Gwendoline Christie, Kelly Marie Tran, Laura Dern, and Benicio Del Toro, the video also features appearances by returning cast members Adam Driver, Lupita Nyong’o, Oscar Isaac, Anthony Daniels, and the late Carrie Fisher.

Connecting the 'Apes' Movies: 7 Ways 'War' Links Back to 1968 Classic Starring Charlton Heston

Let’s start by stating the obvious: War for the Planet of the Apes is not a direct prequel to the 1968 sci-fi classic Planet of the Apes starring Charlton Heston. Instead, the new Apes, which arrives in theaters this weekend is, in the words of director Matt Reeves, “an answer” to the series of simian sci-fi films of the 1960s and ’70s.

“The interesting thing for me about these movies is that the originals exist, and they exist as a kind of trajectory,” Reeves tells Yahoo Movies. “But Rise [2011’s franchise reboot Rise of the Planet of the Apes]changed the timeline. In the ’68 movie, there’s a nuclear holocaust, that’s why we see the big reveal of the Statue of Liberty at the end. But the apes have evolved naturally over the course of thousands of years. That’s all been changed. So these movies will never meet up exactly. But they are in a dialogue with the originals.”

Japanese Family Puts Aging Robot In Retirement Home

Saying the move to the assisted care facility was the right decision after so many years of operation, members of the Akiyama family finally put their aging robot in a retirement home, sources reported Friday. “It’ll be much happier here in this community where it can be around older droids that were all manufactured around the same time and that’ll have lots of things in common with it,” said Makoto Akiyama, adding that he knew the time had come after noticing the elderly automaton’s memory had deteriorated to the point where it was not even making 5 trillion calculations per second.

There's Only One MJ...

The romance between MJ and Peter Parker is one of the all-time great love stories in the annals of comic book history... and yet another example of a ridiculous misstep by Marvel Comics.

At least they're making some amends now with the Spider-Man Renew Your Vows title, but that's an alternate reality, 'what if' story, rather than part of the core Marvel Universe.

Manned mission to Mars may not materialize

William H. Gerstenmaier, Associate Administrator for Human Exploration and Operations for NASA, said that the agency did not have enough funds for a manned mission to Mars. For the time being, the official said, NASA does not have any investor who would be ready to invest in the mission to Mars.

According to Gerstenmaier, even actual participants of the mission are likely to take part in the funding of the mission to Mars. It goes about one-way tickets to the spaceship that will take people to the Red Planet as tourists. The date for the mission to start remains unknown because of the absence of the budget for the project.

New Doctor Who should be a Dalek, say Daleks

DALEKS have demanded that the new Doctor Who should be a Dalek.

The Skaro natives have petitioned the BBC for ‘better representation’ from a show which has historically ‘erased and demonised’ their proud race.

The Supreme Dalek said: “It’s not the 1960s anymore. These narratives about heroic Gallifreyans saving humanoids from extermination are outdated and offensive.

Without further adieu, I give you Fusion Godzilla......

This has been an incredible journey for me and a dream come true. 14 months in the making and years to conceptualize, FusionGoji is officially in existence.

Totals of materials and cost will be tallied later but for now I can estimate he weighs well over 150lbs and cost $3,000 to make over the course of a year. Blood, sweat, and tears were poured into this thing. Countless hours of my spare time went into it.
